Saying and writing the date
Dates use ordinals: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th… Say 'the first of June' or 'June the first'.
- Use 'on' + date: 'on 12 March'.

Task
Tell a partner 5 important dates in your year (birthday, holiday, exam, etc.).
Strategy
Use 'on + the + ordinal + of + month' or 'on + month + ordinal'. Speak slowly and clearly: 'My birthday is on the fifth of May.'
Example
My birthday is on the 5th of May. My mum's birthday is on the 12th of August. Christmas is on the 25th of December.
